HEADACHE: DEFINITION TYPES CAUSE PREVENTION/MANAGEMENT

DEFINITION

Headache is simply a continuous discomforting pain in the head. It can be a caused or triggered by stress. Headaches results from signals sent to the brain by specific surrounding nerves


TYPES
 There are so many types of headache and they are grouped into two main classes
-Primary headache (Tension, migraine, cluster headache)
-Secondary headache (Tumor, trauma, head injury, disease of the blood vessel in the brain and so on)
   -TENSION HEADACHE: Tension headache is the most common type of headache. Tension headache are usually
-On both sides
-Mild to moderate
-Worse while walking, working and bending
-A feeling of pressure behind the eyes
    The most common cause of tension headache is stress, anxiety, depression
   -MIGRAINE HEADACHE: There are many types of migraine but the common/major ones are Common/Episodic and Classical migraine
-Common migraine (Migraine without aura) 
Migraine are intense headache on one side of the head usually throbbing. Common migraine comes without an aura (sensation of migraine attack like flashes of light, tingling in arms or legs, lost of vision for 10 to 20 minutes. Auras can also affect smell taste speech or touch). Typical symptoms of common migraine include:
-Dizziness 
-Sensitivity to light or sound
-Nausea
-Coldness in the hand
    Migraine without aura is more common than migraine with aura.
-Classical migraine (Migraine with aura)
Classical migraine is a recurring headache that strikes after or at the same time with the sensory disturbance (Aura)

CAUSES
There are so many causes of headache which I group into two 
-Reacting to something. These contains edible things or hormonal reaction:
-Allergy reaction
-Constipation 
-Coffee consumption
-Hormonal imbalance (Menstruation)
-Food additives
-Food colouring
-Flour food
-Carbonated drinks
-Gewing gum
-Artificial sweetener
-Monosodium gultamate MSG (Flavour enhancer)
-Dehydration

-Reacting to an act or lifestyle: This has to do with activities or lifestyle that triggers headache.:
-Teeth grinding while sleeping
-Hunger
-Toxic overload caused by carbon monoxide from generators. Toxic overload can also come from lotions, perfume, cosmetics
- A result of hang over
-Straining of the eyes for a long period
-Stress, anxiety, depression
-Insomina (Lack/ inability to sleep)

       MANAGEMENT OF HEADACHES
-Keep a check on your food 
-Elimanate carbonate drinks and sweet fruit. Eat fruit like garden egg, pear banana (If you not battling with insomnia)
-Avoid artificial additives, colouring and sweetener
-Reduce intake of processed food
-Reduce salt intake, ice cream, peanut butter
     HOW TO DEAL WITH RECURRENT HEADACHE
-Practice deep breathing
-Maintain good posture habit. Bad posture put the muscle under tension
-Increase fibre in your food
-Dealing with classic migraine, drink 1- 2 large glass of water every 3hrs
-Put ice on a towel and place it on your head
-Eat small meals. Avoid large meals at a tym
-Get enough sleep
-Regular exercise as simple as walking will go a long way
